Welcome to the 2023 Canadian Council of Public Accounts Committees (CCPAC) and Canadian Council of Legislative Auditors (CCOLA) Annual Conference. We look forward to hosting you in the Yukon from September 10 to 12.

Meet in hotel lobby for optional afternoon excursion to Carcross
Trip to historic Carcross and the Carcross Commons on the shores of beautiful Bennett Lake. This is the home of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation and was an important stop for the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway on its way to Whitehorse from the port town of Skagway, Alaska. There is a large beach to explore, and it is a popular destination for mountain bikers, windsurfers, and cruise ship passengers.

Each jurisdiction will have 5-6 minutes for a representative from the public accounts committee and the audit office to brief delegates about activities in their jurisdiction since the last conference.

Business session #1: Defending Canada
A panel discussion about the defence of Canada, the impact of global events on our country, and ensuring the protection of Canadians.

Business Session #2: Managing cyber security threats
A panel discussion of current research into cyber risks and mitigation strategies, the skills and tools that governments, need to detect and defend against cyber threats, and the lessons learned from a ransomware attack.

Business session #3: Collaborating on climate change solutions
A panel discussion about climate change, the importance of understanding different perspectives about the issue, and ideas for how different levels of government can innovate and collaborate to make progress to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Business session #4: Accountability: How far is our reach?
A panel discussion about the mandates of public accounts committees and auditors general and how to maximize our impact, touching on our access rights, the extent of our reach to follow the dollar, and how we can hold governments to account for outcomes even when services are outsourced.

Accompanying persons' program

Accompanying persons are invited to attend the Sunday, September 10, excursion to Carcross and the welcome reception that evening, as well as the dinner on Monday, September 11. No accompanying persons program will run concurrently with the business sessions.
